You Are the Brand: Cultivating an Authentic Business Culture

“You Are the Brand!”
There’s a reason I say this to business owners.
I’m not merely referring to the Marketing Brand – as important as that is. I’m really pointing to the Employment Brand and the culture of your organization. In my mind, your Marketing Brand, your Employment Brand, and your company’s Culture are all braided together in a way you can’t really unbraid. That’s because You are the brand
Why are you the Brand?
I could say it’s because:
- It’s your company
- You’re the one who is at risk for the success of your company
- You’re the boss and what you say goes.
There’s some truth in each of those statements, and some things that won’t make as much sense to anyone but you. There are better reasons that you are the brand; that you must be the brand.

In this session, I’ll be explaining:
- Why you are the brand
- How I came up with the concept
- What it means practically for the way you run your business
- What it means for how you can and should lead with authenticity
- Why clarity on you as the brand is imperative in helping you decide who you should ask to join your team.
There are all kinds of people who could try to define what your brand should be…consultants, family members, mentors, bankers, marketing companies, your HR Director. If you let any other of these well meaning people create a brand for your business that isn’t true to you, you won’t find all the enjoyment that you could for what you’re sinking the best part of your life into.
