What we do

Creating culture with savvy employers.

Culture is formed by everything you and your leaders do, say, promote, and allow.  We help savvy employers like you radically define and radically reinforce culture to build the culture you want.

I can’t recommend Mark enough. He has a rare ability to work with leadership teams and CEOs alike, bringing both sharp insight and genuine heart.

Why we do what we do

To see entrepreneurs and business leaders reach their vision, enjoying their life on the journey

We address the internal realities that shape culture, teams, and leadership.  We want to see you get what you want, help you enjoy the culture you’re building and create one strong enough to carry your vision forward for as far out as you want to see.

Mark-Headshot

Write down the vision and make it plain so the reader can run with it.

"Without vision, the leader only has a vague dream that’s hard to put into words. “Leaders” who lack vision are aimless. People cannot follow those who don’t know where they’re going. At best, they can hang out with them.

~Mark Weaver, The Inside Job

What would the employment relationship look like if we treated the team like our most important investment instead of an asset?

"Value your team members for their brain, their perspective, their experience, rather than thinking of them as mere employees or assets."

Meet Our Founder, Mark Weaver

National Speaker, Author, & Creator of Award-Winning Culture

I'm Mark Weaver, and I founded Open Door in 2009 to help busy leaders do the Inside job of radically defining and radically reinforcing culture. Early in my career, I had the privilege of working for and being mentored by international best selling author and quality guru, Phil Crosby, and consulting with specific Phillip Crosby Associates clients on people strategies. Through this experience, I learned that quality improvement is driven not by not by after-the-fact measurement, but by culture change and leadership commitment.   Phil Crosby's views on culture change radically changed my life and shaped what I call my Professional DNA™.  Over my career I have held HR executive positions at the National Center for Atmospheric Research and Poudre Valley Health System, and had full responsibility for an HR consulting firm, overseeing all day-to-day and strategic functions for an absentee owner. What I saw was a pattern. Organizational challenges were almost always caused by an erosion of the intended culture. Since culture is set by everything the leaders do, say, promote, and allow, at leat one of those four pieces needs correction. It was those experiences along with Phil's influence that led to the founding of Open Door and its work today.

A culture by default is what happens without effort. Think weeds.

"Every organization has a culture, either by intention or default.  Much like cultivating a plot of land, you have to continually and consistently work on the culture of your organization."
